Welcome to ICAR2023

It is our greatest pleasure to invite you to participate in the 33rd International Conference on Arabidopsis Research (ICAR2023), which will be held as a hybrid event on June 5-9, 2023 in Chiba, Japan. ICAR is an annual conference rotating among North America, Asia-Oceania and Europe. The conference covers all aspects of plant biology research on Arabidopsis as well as other plant species, generally attracting more than 800 scientists worldwide to present and discuss their new discoveries.

The 21st ICAR was held in Yokohama in 2010, the commemorative final year for the international Arabidopsis 2010 project. During the past decade, plant biology has moved forward tremendously thanks to new technologies, resources, and various research projects on important topics. We are very happy to welcome ICAR back to Japan to witness these great advances.

We would like to discuss “Arabidopsis for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” as a core theme of the ICAR2023. We can expect further advances in basic plant biology based on Arabidopsis research and its application to crops and trees for solving global problems such as food, energy, health, and environmental crisis in the next decade. In the ICAR2023, we will highlight the following topics:

  • Latest advances in the Arabidopsis research for identifying key factors and regulatory networks underlying various environmental responses and developmental processes.
  • Cutting-edge translational research that will contribute to SDGs.

Chiba is located in the central part of Japan and there are many great sightseeing spots in Chiba and nearby Tokyo area. We hope you enjoy exciting science as well as beautiful Japan. We will work together to make ICAR2023 a memorable conference!

We look forward to welcoming you to Chiba for the ICAR2023 from all parts of the world.

Best regards,
